I installed a new mobo last week, and I didn't look before I installed W7x64, but MSI has SATA set to IDE by default. I just noticed it this morning. I wanted to change to AHCI, but there is no AMD SATA Controller in Device Manager, and if I switch to AHCI in BIOS, Windows fails to start. I tried Start-up repair, but no go, it said it could not automatically fix the problem. Am I correct in assuming that if I want to switch to AHCI that I will have to change it to AHCI in BIOS, then reinstall Windows? That seems absurd to me, really don't want to do that, but if it's the only way..
